Frequently Asked Questions
What is OysterFest?
OysterFest is a community food festival hosted in Shelton, Washington on the Olympic Peninsula, October 4-6. The event features an Oyster Shucking Competition, wine & beer gardens as well as live music on two stages. Although food and drink anchor the festivities, there is much to see and do for the whole family at this celebration that has a profound impact on many local non-profits.
Who hosts it?
The Washington State Seafood Festival (OysterFest) is hosted and presented by the Shelton Skookum Rotary Club. Each year members and their families create an event that assists local non-profits as well as global issues.
Can we bring our pets?
Sorry, there are no pets allowed on the event grounds with the exception of service animals. Pets are permitted in the camping area but they must be leashed while outside.
Is it all oysters?
No although we do love our local oysters, there are plenty of options other than seafood. Food vendors at OysterFest are volunteering their time to create gastronomical delights (seafood and non) in support of a local organization. Vendors & exhibitors are non-profit organizations with proceeds benefiting Mason County groups
Is there anything for kids to do?
There are fun activities for kids throughout the event including daily children’s shows on the Kids Stage, mini golf presented by local Boy Scout Troop, face painting, crafts, carnival games, remote controlled scale ships in a giant tank, and the famous Kristmas Town Kiwanis train rides. There are plenty of hands-on fun activities including educational exhibits and, of course, the marine touch tanks filled with inter-tidal sea creatures.
